Limited yard space and rising food prices in urban areas pose significant challenges to household food security. Kedaton District, Bandar Lampung City, a densely populated residential area, shows low utilization of home yards for productive activities, resulting in heavy dependence on market supplies and relatively high food expenditures. This Community Service Program aimed to enhance household food independence and family income through the implementation of a wick-system hydroponic method, a cultivation technology that is space-efficient, low-cost, and easy to adopt. The program employed a participatory approach consisting of socialization sessions, technical training, hands-on construction of hydroponic units using recycled materials, cultivation assistance, and micro- enterprise management education. The activities improved participants’ knowledge and technical skills, established household-scale hydroponic units, increased access to healthy food sources, and created opportunities for supplementary income. The program also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals related to food security, inclusive economic growth, and sustainable cities, while offering a replicable model of community-based urban farming.
